Automat & Mensch 2.0, May, 2024

CHF 0.00

In 2019, on May 29th, the retrospective exhibition "Automat und Mensch" opened at the Kate Vass Galerie in Zurich. This show aimed to highlight the deep historical roots of AI and generative art by featuring 29 artists, including both pioneers and emerging talents. The exhibition drew inspiration from the original eponymous book by Steinbuch, which focused on cybernetics at its core—the idea of machines adapting based on input.

In 2024, as we journeyed five years back in time to revisit the show, our aim was to reflect upon the trajectory of AI in art and the evolution of generative art over the past half-decade. We explored the transformative impact of technological advancements, paying homage to pioneering artists who laid the groundwork, while also highlighting new artworks.
