CULLEN MILLER


He is an engineer, spatial media designer, and musician based in Berlin (and sometimes in San Francisco). Currently serving as the VP of Product at Spawning, he is part of an organization that develops data governance solutions for AI training datasets. His previous roles have included designing and engineering technical systems for large-scale immersive media-based architecture projects, where he worked as the Principal Systems Engineer at the Sphere, the Principal Systems Architect on Al-Wasl Plaza, and other immersive environments. He was part of the founding teams of the Gray Area Foundation and Channel, where he used his experience in the culture sector to help establish resilient institutions adapted to new modes of cultural production. His musical compositions and performances have been showcased at prestigious venues such as UNESCO (FR), United Nations (US), Shenzhen Pavilion (CN), Saint Peter's Basilica (Vatican), World Fair - Dubai Expo (UAE), Qasr al-Hosn (UAE), Goethe-Institut (MX), Funkhaus Berlin (DE), Berkeley Art Museum (US), Dolby Research Laboratories (US), UC Berkeley (US), Stanford University (US), among others. He has guest lectured on various subjects at institutions like Goldsmiths - UoL, Stanford University, New York University, and Duke University. A trained composer with a foundation in new music, synthesis, and spatial media, he also organizes the concert and club night, FINITE, and forms one half of the musical duo Halosar with James Jano. He is a member of Trust Berlin, Other Internet, and Gray Area. Originally from Detroit, he is an avid chess player, a recovering synthesizer addict, and is currently developing and playtesting a cooperative deck-building game about overcoming existential risks.
