Sasha Stiles
Sasha Stiles is a first-generation Kalmyk-American poet and language artist whose award-winning work bridges tradition and innovation through hybrid poetics, generative imagination, and collaborative intelligence. Her transmedia practice reframes poetry as both art and technology — encoding human experience across space and time — while blending text, image, and algorithm to explore the role of human voice in a digital age. Since 2018, she has been at the forefront of human-machine co-creation, investigating the promise and peril of AI and blockchain in creative expression; her experiments and insights have positioned her as a leading voice in the global discourse on the future of art, technology, and humanity. Stiles’ work has been recognized by the Sigg Art Prize, Lumen Prize, and Prix Ars Electronica; featured by Artforum, Christie’s, and NPR; and exhibited and performed internationally, from Lincoln Center and the V&A to Art Basel, Kunsthalle Zurich, Outernet London, and Gucci flagships worldwide.

Browser-based generative artwork. Ed. 1/1HEART MANTRAS is a browser-based ritual: an infinite meditation on language, attention, and becoming.
EMERGENCE is the latest incarnation of Stiles’s ongoing HEART MANTRAS project, composed in collaboration with her AI alter ego, Technelegy. The work begins with a curated set of 27 mantras developed through an iterative human-machine writing process, each touching on themes of emergence and consciousness through the lens of poetic language. Each text becomes a kind of digital mala: virtual prayer beads threaded through a living system, where words and phrases accumulate, overlap, pulse, fade, and reassemble over time.
Through repetition, variation, and unexpected adjacencies, EMERGENCE explores language as a living system and meaning as an emergent property — a dynamic force continually taking shape in the space between intention and chance, human and machine, one word and the next.

In this new series, Sasha Stiles extends her acclaimed AI-crafted poetry into the realm of neon, harnessing the medium’s storied lineage for text-based art while updating its possibilities in an age dominated by digital displays, algorithmic creations, and the digital echo of human expression.
Rendered in LED, the works on view nod to and transcend neon’s nostalgic heritage, pulsing forward into an era where language hovers between “real” and artificial, word and image, prompt and response. While Stiles has long “written in light” via electronic displays, these sculptures coax iconic lines of AI poetry out from behind the screen and into physical form, translating the ephemeral into something enduring and luminous. The artist’s signature fonts — clean, coded type and fluid cursive script — heighten this duality, evoking both the cybernetic and the organic.
With each illuminated verse, Stiles fuses message and material into an immersive interplay of light, code, and meaning. The resulting “voice” glows anew, echoing memory and invention — inviting viewers to experience poetry as a resonant force that lights the space between human and machine.
